Wilshire Park hosted its 8th Halloween Haunt on Saturday, October 28, on Bronson Avenue between Wilshire and 8th. We sure hope you were there -- it was fantastic! The event has morphed from a simple front-yard get-together into our major social and fundraising event.
Our City Councilmember, David Ryu, sponsored the street closure of the event, so that all participants were safe from traffic. Our fantastic Senior Lead Officer, Harry Cho, of the LAPD Olympic Division was there to join in the festivities, as were several firefighters from local Firehouse 29.
Hundreds of our neighbors were decked out in terrific costumes - both scary and adorable. The costume contests gave everyone a chance to show off their finery!
As a special event this year, the Samulnori Korean drumming troupe performed (sponsored by former neighbors, the Rims) much to the delight of everyone at the Haunt. Neighbors also greatly enjoyed the Woodbine Twineth Haunted House (the Shaws), Wilshire Park Zombie, Kramer Ghost Train (the Kramers), Fortune Teller (the Bauers), Facepainter, pinata (the Tolentinos), bouncers (the Handzos and Gallicos), and carnival games, sponsored and run by neighbors on Bronson and throughout Wilshire Park. Special thanks also to the Ayon Family for the donation and preparation of all the food!
As Halloween Haunt Chairs, we are so grateful to everyone who donated, assisted, and participated. We can't name you all here, but you are in our hearts! Until next year, October 27, 2018!
